BCT Nocturnal Garden to launch to the public at Clydach Community Gardens - Saturday 12th September 2026

Following it's relocation from the the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2026, this September the Bat Conservation Trust's Nocturnal Garden will open to visitors at it's new permanent home at Clydach Community Gardens in Swansea.

Designed to attract moths and pollinators for supporting bats and nocturnal species, this show garden by Melanie Hick for the Bat Conservation Trust is an example of diverse planting and naturalistic design for environmental benefit.

As the relocation partner on the project Clydach Community Gardens are working with natural landscapers Riverdale Falls, to move the Nocturnal Garden from Chelsea to South Wales and rebuild it on their existing site in the centre of Clydach.

This is the first full RHS Chelsea Flower Show Garden to be relocated to South Wales and will be managed by Clydach Community Gardens as part of their ongoing work. It will be used as an education garden to run workshops and activities to engage the wider community on the importance of biodiversity and creating wildlife-friendly gardens both in public spaces and at home. 

The launch event is taking place on Saturday 12th September 2026, between 11am and 3pm where the public can explore the new Nocturnal Garden and the wider Clydach Community Gardens site. In addition to the open gardens there will be a producers market, street food vendors and a showcase of local stakeholders and environmental organisations working in the South Wales area.

The event is free but donations are welcome.

The entrance to the event will via the entrance of Clydach Community Hall on Vardre Road, Clydach SA6 5LP
